Types of Contact Lenses
Disposable
Can be daily, two weekly or monthly disposable. Daily disposable are the most convenient as they are discarded after one wear. Two weekly and monthly disposable lenses are removed each night, cleaned and stored in a contact lens solution.
Rigid Gas Permeable Contact Lenses
Also known as hard contact lenses they are not flexible like soft disposable lenses. These are used for irregular corneas such as Kerataconus and corneal refractive therapy in orthokeratology.
Custom Made Contact Lenses
These are tailored exactly for the eye. They are generally used for very high prescriptions.
Multifocal Contact Lenses
A great alternative to wearers of multifocal glasses. Available as daily or monthly disposable.

At Forest Lakes Optometrist our spectacle lenses are supplied by Essilor and Hoya. Having multiple suppliers allows us to maximise lens options taking into account the prescription, the frame and most importantly the patients lifestyle and visual requirements.
We recommend newer designs of multifocal lenses giving wide fields of view and clearer vision.
Other options include high index lenses resulting in thinner, lighter glasses; polarised tinted lenses for prescription sunglasses and medium impact resistant materials for safety eyewear.

SUNGLASSES
At Forest Lakes Optometrist, our extensive range of sunglasses ensures a great fit and style for everyone, while still protecting the eyes from harmful UV radiation. All our sunglasses meet the Australian Standard for UV protection.
Choose from brands such as Guess, Oroton, Mako, Fish and Morrissey. Most can be fitted with prescription lenses.
For people who wish to enjoy the convenience of wearing the same pair of glasses for both indoor and outdoor activities, Forest Lakes Optometrist offers Transitions lenses that darken to reduce glare outdoors.
